National Tree Planting Day

In the spirit of increasing our forest cover and in line with the constitutional requirement of 10% tree cover and part of the Institution Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Maseno University continues to implement the Presidential directives by planting trees.

On Monday 13th November 2023, during which the public across the country were expected to plant trees as a patriotic contribution to the national efforts to save our country from the devastating effects of climate change, Maseno University community dared the morning showers to participate in this activity. The staff led by the Dean School of Agriculture, Food Security and Environmental Sciences (SAFSES), Dr Chrilukovian Wasike, the chairman of the University Environmental Sustainability Committee Prof. Boniface Oindo, Dr. Donald Gulali from School of Business and Economics and students from various clubs namely: UNESCO club, Maseno University Education Students Association (MUESA), Maseno University Public Health Students Association (MUPSA) and Maseno University Environmental Students Association(MUESA) in partnership with the Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI) and Tourism Board planted a total of 1,500 trees at the university farm Next to KEFRI. Other local community leaders present included the area Chief and the assistant County Commissioner.
