Maseno University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Julius Nyabundi, briefed Cabinet Secretary for Education, Hon. Julius O. Migosi, on the university's history, spanning its various Campuses and Schools, and highlighted key developments.

Among the notable achievements showcased were a new Tuition Block featuring  state-of-the-art amphitheaters and significant expansion of student accommodation, enabling all first year  students to reside on campus. 

Prof. Nyabundi proudly announced Maseno's remarkable financial stability evidenced by zero arrears in employees' deductions for the SACCO, pensions, and bank loans, a feat amidst widespread financial challenges in the higher education sector.

On his turn. Hon. Migosi acknowledged the severe financial difficulties plaguing numerous universities, with at least 21 facing serious challenges. He commended Maseno University for its exemplary financial management and encouraged continued development.

The CS called for comprehensive reforms across universities, addressing critical issues such as leadership gaps, with the goal of elevating Kenyan universities to world-class status, attracting international students and fostering a conducive learning environment.

 He also emphasized the crucial role of innovation within universities.

Prof. Nyabundi highlighted Maseno’s unique strengths, including its leading School of Medicine, its integration of IT across all courses, and its commitment to timely grading, ensuring no missing marks for students.

The CS and the uUniversity Management embarked on a tour of Maseno’s impressive facilities, including the new Tuition Block, capable of accommodating over 3000 students simultaneously, and the newly constructed Prof. Nyabundi Hostels, providing residence for over 4,000 students. 

 Hon. Migosi expressed his appreciation for Maseno’s serene environment.  The visit culminated in a tree planting ceremony at Siriba Campus, adjacent to the Nyabundi Hostels, symbolizing a commitment to growth and sustainability.
