In conjunction with relevant organs of the university, the office of Director of Students Welfare Services also coordinates activities that affect students' health, accommodation and catering, sports, career, and placement services including activities of Student Organization of Maseno University (SOMU), student clubs/societies/associations.

The location of Maseno in a rural environment makes the provision of accommodation a critical component of Student Welfare. In this regard therefore the University has been quite focused on increasing the number of accommodation facilities to allow as many students as possible to have an opportunity to stay on campus

In this regard, the University has constructed self-catering accommodation units  which will not only curb accommodation crisis but also encourage responsibility and discipline in students. Apart from the daily programmme of lectures, this new accommodation concert will enable students to run their own schedule for the study and meals respectively.

Student Counseling
The University has a full-fledged Counseling Units which cater to all students who may require counseling. Three trained counselors support the services of the Unit.

Games and Sports.
Maseno University has some of the best field game facilities in the region. The climate allows for evergreen playing field events. There is an Olympic size stadium which is the envy of many. Students are encouraged to participate in the games.
